BuyBay joins SDG Community

BuyBay is committed to a zero-waste economy. That is what thrives us to help organizations in managing their returns and overstock. This is what we have been doing since day 1. To amplify our passion for sustainability, BuyBay has joined the Dutch branch of the United Nations SDG community that works on these sustainability goals on a national level.

What are SDGs?

SDGs literally means Sustainable Development Goals. In 2015 these have been adopted by all countries of the United Nations. The goals represent a shared agenda towards a sustainable world in 2030. It’s driven by economic, ecological, and social values at local, national, and international level. We are the first generation that has the tools to really make a difference and collaborate on a future proof world.

To get a better impression, the United Nations have created the following video to explain the SDGs:

The 17 SDGs with goal 12 as a starting point for BuyBay

The United Nations formulated 17 SDGs. The 12th goal of the SDGs addresses BuyBay’s core business: ‘Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns’.

In particular, we address the following aspects of goal 12:

12.5 Significantly reduce waste by 2030 through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.

12.6 Encouraging companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.

These sub goals are in line with our vision:

“We will live in a world with a zero-waste economy, where all e-commerce products are used and all organizations contribute their share to a sustainable, waste-free, world.”

Responsible consumption and production

Being an important player in e-commerce, inevitably means dealing with returns and obsolete stock. We take the responsibility to help these parties managing returns sustainably and focus on the huge challenges that are connected to returns, trying to prevent waste by giving returns a second life. We do this by providing innovative solutions for both returns and overstock management, helping large retailers, brands and distributors with their challenges, with every step that is involved on the way

We look forward to actively promote the SDG goals and work towards a more sustainable world, together with our partners!
